Decorating the inside your home for the Holidays can be so fun! Decorating the outside of your home can be challenging, as it depends on weather conditions, but it can also be very exciting as it will be seen by all the passer-bys. We have yet to decorate the outside of our home as the weather has not been cooperating for us, but with little luck and some of this great inspiration, we might just get to it sooner rather than later.

Let's talk about traditions. Everyone has them, especially around the holidays. We would like to share one of our many today. When it comes to Christmas ornaments, we especially love some of our vintage ones, but the ones that really mean so much to us are the individual ones we get every year.

You see, we have this thing that we do as a family. We live in Calgary and are in the mountains quite often. The one trip that we do make though, that is quite special, is our yearly ornament shopping trip to Banff. We make a day of it, grab some lunch, enjoy the beautiful scenery and shop for our new ornaments. Everyone in our family picks one ornament for the year, we put a date on the back of it and hang it on the tree when we get home. It is so nice to look at the ornaments during the holidays and be reminded of all our great family trips.

With that in mind, we have also found some really wonderful, hand made ornaments on Etsy.

Today is December 6th and a very special day in our family around this time of the year. We have this tradition that Santa comes and visits the kids with a small present on the night of the 5th. On the morning of the 6th of December, the kids wake up to find a little gift outside of their bedroom door and a note from Santa Claus himself! It's a little reminder that he's coming soon and it gives our kids an incentive to continue being good. So in the spirit of the Season and Tradition, here are some Santa items we have found. So we guess this time is upon us. It is now Decemeber 1st and here at Buttercup Prints, we have decided that with everyone busy shopping for their loved ones and trying to get ready for the Holidays, we wanted to maybe make things a bit easier for everyone and post a few interesting finds related to the Season.

We love decorating for the Holidays and the Christmas Tree is one of our favorites! It's a family affair and we never know how it will turn out in the end. Sometimes the decorations are all on the bottom half of the tree (if decorated by our 5 year old), and sometimes all the really precious decorations end up way up high (if decorated by our 13 year old). Regardless how it's done, there are many ways to decorate a Christmas Tree, that's for sure!

A Birthday Celebration

This month we celebrated a very special birthday. My youngest son has turned one! Who would have thought that time would go by so quickly and all of a sudden, we'd be at this moment! I found it hard to decide how to celebrate this special day, especially with such a variety of party supplies out there! It's not like it was a first birthday ever celebrated at our house, we do have two other children, but as any parent can attest, your child's first birthday is a special birthday indeed.

After thorough research, I have decided that what would represent my son best, would be something that we tend to call him all the time, thus we decided to go with a monkey theme...

All my party supplies were from Birthday Express. We also chose to use a local company for some kids entertainment. We rented a bouncy house from BounceRound Calgary. The birthday invitation was custom designed and can be ordered through our online gallery. All and all the party turned out great and fun was had by all. Another successful birthday for the books!
